Views are down... here's how to adapt

Use this good ol reliable format

I’ve talked to a few business owners lately that have complained about their YouTube views dropping.

This is happening for a few reasons:

A) Back to school (less viewership from 16-22 demo)

B) YouTube is no longer counting auto-play views

C) Market got even more saturated with “make money online” creators in past 6 months

If you’re just starting to take YouTube seriously again or building a new channel from scratch, this can be discouraging.

BUT it’s not an excuse to give up completely.

When you feel like nothing’s clicking, one of the best things you can do is just move a little bit in the right direction.

A base hit, if you will.

And what we’ve found to be the most reliable way to land “base hits” is through search-oriented videos.

These search-focused videos may lag in the first few days or weeks…

But are essentially GUARANTEED to perform over 6-12 months (and longer).

What is a “search-oriented” video?

These are just videos where you turn a common question in your niche into a tutorial.

Ideally these are low competition search terms that not many other creators have covered yet.

You’ll find these pockets in the more obscure make money online niches because A) the TAM is already small and B) the amount of people making content is even smaller

We have “broad” tutorials that encompass an entire subject matter:

"How To Start An Airbnb Business” 2 year old video, 60% from search

“High Ticket Sales Free Course” notice how it took 2 months to start performing

And also more “niche” tutorials that cover something ultra specific within a subject:

“How To Actually Get An SBA Loan” pretty much as niche as it gets

What all of these videos have in common is they only started to get REAL traction after 150+ days of being live.

In other words, these videos are low velocity, high potential.

Previously we’ve had clients give up on YouTube prematurely because they didn’t understand this concept (and we didn’t explain it well) only to see videos we created for them absolutely pop off 60-90 days after discontinuing.

(It’s pretty funny to watch because these videos generally end up being some of the top performers on their channel with enough time.)

And the best part about these videos is that they attract the highest-intent viewers.

Search oriented video + lead magnet = weapon

This one video we made for Cam Olivera about CONTRACTS generated $60,720.50 in direct sales and 5686 unique opt-ins that can all be emailed and/or dialed.

that’s a lot of leads

And since Cam literally ranks #1 for this entire topic (wholesale real estate contracts) he will continue to steal market share from this category and book calls 1.5 years later:

#1 ranking for multiple variations of this search term

So yeah. Evergreen videos are pretty great for attracting high-intent buyers.

Just know that you will not be able to enjoy the fruit the same day you plant the tree…
